Featuring a magnificent academic heritage, Oxford is a beautiful city where Gothic spires intermingle with medieval colleges. The home to England’s oldest university, most of the 38 unique colleges are sadly only viewable from the outside. Two that you can visit are Magdalen College, considered one of the most beautiful, and Christchurch College whose quadrangle was used in the 1st Harry Potter film. Its cathedral choir also sings evensong.
Other notable colleges are Balliol and Merton, the 2 oldest, while Hertford College has the Bridge of Sighs. Next door is the cavernous Bodleian Library, overlooking the round Radcliffe Camera, the city’s best-known landmark.
The university also has a botanical garden and the best Oxford museums, including the Ashmolean Museum and Natural History Museum, where swifts nest in summer.
Unsurprisingly for a student town, it has lots of bars and restaurants. Oxford shopping is also good and includes England’s oldest covered market, brightly colored High Street shops, and the Clarendon and Westgate shopping centers.
Whether you arrive by road or fly into London Oxford Airport, don’t leave without trying Oxford punting. In contrast to rival Cambridge, you punt here by standing in the front (rather than on the back). Easily accessed from the Oxford accommodations on Booking.com, the routes take in the River Cherwell and the Isis (the name for this part of the Thames).
Beautiful city. Calm and relaxed. People are courteous and polite. Loved the slow life. City centre doesn’t have many attractions so one can take the 2 hr. Walking tour. Many great places to eat . And all under one roof Westgate shopping centre too.

Lovely place to visit.
Lovely place to visit. I went as my family grew up in Oxford and I have never been before. Drove from Oxford to Fritwell, then onto Bicester. Lovely little trip. The city centre was beautiful, so much to do in the short time I was there.

The hotel is very unique.
The hotel is very unique. We stayed in one of the cell rooms which added to the experience. I think if you didn’t stay in one of the cell rooms, it would feel like staying in any other nice hotel. Just bare in mind that the cell rooms do not have a window that you can look out of, only a little window near the ceiling, it is literally 2-3 old Victorian prison cells converted into one room, so you wouldn’t expect there to be a window to look out of. The cell room feels very spacious and very nicely converted, with a prison vibe going on. If you are driving to the hotel, to avoid disappointment, make sure you reserve parking. Parking is VERY limited.
We had an evening meal in the hotel, which was excellent, a little over priced maybe? So I was expecting an excellent breakfast, but sadly not. I had full English and my breakfast was warm, not hot. Found the bacon and potato croquettes quite rubbery. I felt my breakfast was probably cooked an hour ago and was kept under one of them warming lights. Even if my breakfast was freshly cooked, I still think for breakfast it was extremely over priced.
Over all the hotel was superb and is in a fantastic location, centre of Oxford. Everything you want to see and do in Oxford is all within walking distance.
I would gladly recommend this hotel.

Unfortunately, only spent a few hours walking around the old historic parts of Oxford. There's plenty of beautiful sandstone buildings and sights to see. Many places charge an entrance fee though but still enjoyed just wandering around looking at the architecture and down to the river was very pleasant. Definitely, will read up and research more on the history and places to see for a return visit to Oxford. Good bus service to the city centre.

I enjoyed the Ashmolean Museum, the Bodleian library and looking at all the wonderful buildings, colleges and Churches. The view from the top of the Carfax tower was superb as was the Covered Market and the main High St was full of many interesting shops.
The Westgate shopping Mall was great - the city is very compact and easy to navigate. The streets are very clean and without rubbish everywhere.
There are many good restaurants and bars at reasonable prices.

I was in Oxford for business but I plan returning for at least 2-3 days for historical sightseeing and dining out experience. Oxford in an hour by train from London Paddington train station for those who do not prefer to drive. An attractive old city in any season.
Staff throughout the hotel were welcoming, friendly, helpful and efficient.
The hotel is in the leafy suburbs of Oxford with good links to the city centre, the grounds are lovely and it felt peaceful and safe.
We had a privilege room which was larger than the standard double and very comfortable.
Breakfast was great with plenty of choice - buffet style - with individual items cooked to order.
The hotel has recently been refurbished and restyled, the terrace and grounds were excellant and the whole place had a relaxed atmosphere.
Located in Oxford's Summertown area The Galaxy is perfectly placed. You can enjoy the nice bakeries and pubs near by and get to the city centre easily. The bus stop is just in front the entrance of the hotel and takes about 10minutes if not less. I preferred going by foot following the Oxford Canal(30min). I was pleasantly surprised by the Trap Grounds Nature Reserve along the way!
The staff were all wonderful! Truly helpful and kind. Couldn't recommend them enough.
The location is great, which for us meant that it is close to the train station and a lot of great shops. It is a good sized apartment which allowed us to spread out a bit after having spent a week in hotels. The linens were very fresh and the apartment was clean. Oxford is a beautiful place and these accommodations made it even better. Everything was great!
Great Central Oxford location. Plenty of good shopping, 6eating and drinking places nearby.
Nothing fancy about the hotel but just what is needed for a brief city centre stay. Staff helpful, room small but comfortable, good bathroom.
No parking at hotel but the Oxford park and ride schem⁶e works well with frequent buses. Good taxi services too. Please
The room was quiet with a lovely view of the garden. It was great to wake up and see the horses outside.
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and well laid out for a 5-day stay.
The hotel is so close to Oxford but not in the busy centre offering more peace and quiet than centrally located hotels. The riverside walk to Oxford is excellent.
Fabulous little hotel ideally located for exploring Oxford. Blenheim Palace a short car ride away as is the Pear tree Park and ride which (in 2023) cost only £5 for 2 of us to park & bus into the city centre.
Lovely friendly staff and a very delicious breakfast. Free parking on site was a great bonus. Would stay again and recommend :)
It is hard to find rooms in Oxford that have their own bathroom so I was happy to find this B&B. The room was very small but for the price it was what I was expecting. Obviously in a hotel you would get many more luxuries but I was happy with my stay considering the price.
Staff was nice and helpful. The location is great. We went to Oxford by bus, and the bus station is basically behind the hotel. Just a few mins walk.
We only spent 2 days in Oxford and lots of sightseeing spots are within walking distance from the hotel.
This was bay far the best hotel to stay at for being in the center of Oxford but also in a small, picturesque setting. The hotel has all the facilities you could want, excellent breakfast, rooftop garden seating, nice rooms, it’s expensive but worth it.
Great location, a short walk from the Peartree Park & Ride for visiting Oxford City Centre. Lovely big room with a comfortable bed. A modern and welcoming hotel. Breakfast was excellent and staff friendly & helpful. Will use again if we are in the area
Very clean and nice hotel located just across the bus stop and plenty buses of from Oxford city Centre.
Room size was ideal for 3 people and facilities were good. Bathroom with towels and toiletries.
Tea and Coffee provided.
We were very satisfied with all aspects of our stay. Excellent room, breakfast, hotel location (an easy walk into the city centre) and helpful staff. We would book there again on our next visit to Oxford.
It is a very nice hotel. Run by Lincoln College, so it's kind of like upscale student accommodation. The room was large and very well appointed, reasonably priced for Oxford, and in an excellent location.
Our stay was lovely, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the rooms were charming, and the food and drink delicious! this was the best pub I’ve ever stayed in during visits to England.
I stayed at Rasa Sayang House and personally, I liked the fact that it is within walking distance of Oxford City Centre. The bus stand is just opposite the hotel was also convenient.
Very clean, room was newly decorated, attractive and modern. Comfortable bed. 20 minute walk to Oxford center or take the public bus from a bus stop just a minute walk from the hotel.
The location is very good and the staff are very friendly. it is near almost everything that you need to see in Oxford. if you are going to Oxford, make sure you stay at this hotel.
Great Location hotel was excellent right by river Thames lovely grounds also bus stop at the top of the driveway straight into Oxford city centre. All round great stay.
We loved the uniqueness of the hotel and it's history. The location was very convenient for a quick trip to Oxford, and it was nice not to have to worry about parking.
